As a teenager I started working on a local building site and served my time as a joiner. One summer I had the opportunity to work in Brazil and Paraguay on a short-term building project. Several years later I ended up working with the Anglican Church in Uruguay, setting up a joinery workshop for young unemployed men combined with detached youth work. I returned home and started working with SAMS Ireland alongside studying Community Youth Work at the University of Ulster and later Theology at St. John’s Nottingham. Mission is at the heart of everything. Being missional is about finding out how to be good news. Our theology needs to be worked out in the midst of the mundane.
